Atholl Accountancy was built on the belief that accountancy should feel clear, supportive and genuinely useful, and that strong relationships and modern tools can make a real difference to a business. This is how that belief took shape.
When I first began training as an accountant, many of the clients I worked with had no accounting software. For those who did, it was often underused or managed entirely by the accountant. This meant regular reporting and meaningful financial insights were difficult to access, leaving business owners without the information they needed to make confident decisions.
By the time I started working for myself in 2016, cloud accounting was becoming more mainstream, and new tools were opening up opportunities. However, most business owners still weren’t taking full advantage of them. Many continued to speak to their accountant only once a year and are reluctant to ask questions, concerned even a quick email might lead to another bill.
During my time in audit, I saw how valuable it was to truly understand a client and how they operated. I found that open, supportive relationships always led to better conversations and stronger advice.
When I set up Atholl Accountancy, I aimed to do things better and bring together everything I had learned. I wanted to help businesses use modern technology, to create a space where clients felt comfortable asking questions, and to build a service that adapted to each client, focusing on what they genuinely needed.
The business has grown from those foundations.Today we are a team of four working with more than one hundred clients across Scotland. Alongside our full accountancy service, we offer flexible support, including a virtual finance department and project work such as systems implementation. What has not changed is our commitment to those original aims and to supporting clients in a way that feels modern, approachable, and genuinely helpful.

Founder & Director
I trained in a busy general practice, which gave me early experience across audit, tax, and business services with a wide range of clients and industries. After several years managing business services teams, I moved into audit, where I loved getting to know clients, their systems, and how their businesses operated in practice and day to day decision making.
That same approach sits at the heart of Atholl Accountancy today. The most rewarding part of my work is helping clients who feel unsure or overwhelmed build knowledge, clarity, and confidence over time. My varied training and experience running Atholl mean I genuinely understand the challenges business owners face day to day and the pressures they manage while running growing businesses.
I started Atholl Accountancy to create a more flexible way of working. I am proud that flexibility is now part of our culture, supporting both our team and the clients we work with, now and into the future.

Patricia Agudo
Client Manager
My career has always been shaped by people as much as numbers. After completing a master’s degree in journalism, I moved into accountancy in my early thirties. Long before I officially qualified, I was already involved in financial decision-making while helping to run a busy city centre restaurant in Edinburgh.
I spent seven years in private practice working with contractors and managing teams in a fast paced environment. I loved the pace of the role and the people and performance side of the work, but the level of client service never felt right. There were too many targets and too many tasks competing for attention.
That contrast is exactly what I value at Atholl Accountancy. Every client is different and requires a tailored approach, from how we work together to the systems and software we use. I care deeply about the people behind each business and focus on looking ahead, helping clients understand what is possible and how they can grow with confidence.

Rachel Duff
Practice Administrator
I have over ten years’ experience working in administrative roles within accountancy practices and I am often the first point of contact for clients at Atholl. I enjoy building friendly, approachable relationships and helping people feel supported, informed, and at ease from their very first interaction with the team.
My role includes managing client onboarding, communications, and compliance with AML legislation, as well as acting as the main point of contact for Companies House queries. I take pride in keeping processes clear, accurate, and timely, and in helping keep the team organised and working efficiently behind the scenes.
Outside of work, I have a busy family life with my two young children and enjoy sharing my love of music and travel with them, making the most of time spent together whenever possible.
